How To Install the SCOM Agent on a Server

This article provides step by step instructions on installing the SCOM (System Center Operations Manager) agent on a Windows Server.

 Instructions

  •   Login into the SH-SCOM server.

  •   Open Operations Console from the Start Menu

  • Go to Administration and run the discovery wizard:

  • Choose “Windows Computers”

 

 

 

  • Choose Advanced Discovery:

 

 

 

  • Select “Browse for, or type-in computer names, and select browse button.  Type in the computer name you are installing for.

 

 

 

  • Select “Use selected Management Server Action Account and click “Discover”

 

 

  • Select the object to manage (the target server).

 

 

  • Use Local System credentials, and leave APM checked, and click “Finish” button.

 

 

  • You will see the Task is started.  It will take a few minutes to complete.

 

 

  • Finally you will see status change to “Success” when the task completes.

 

 

  • To confirm, go to “Agent Managed” under Device Management and you should see the server listed there.  

 

 

 

  • After a few minutes, it will be monitored, and display as “Healthy”.
