How to setup a Risk Limiter/Jamix iPad
All Dining locations will be issued at least 1 Gleason/Risk Limiter iPad. Some locations have multiple assigned to different stations. This document explains how to set them up.
Instructions
Asset Tag the iPad using SHDS standard Asset Tag.
2. Place the new iPad in a protective case and power the unit on.
3. Complete iPad setup wizard (Enables Supervision in Jamf)
a. Use the standard unlock code: 1-3-5-7-9-0
4. In Jamf:
a. Rename to SHDS-<Serial number> - Jamix RL iPAD <next number>
b. Update the Asset Tag field with the Asset Tag number you assigned the device.
c. Set the user to the General Manager of the location that the iPad will be used at.
d. Add to Static Device Group in Jamf (Jamix & Risk Limiter iPads)
**This will add the iPad to the “Jamix Risk Limiter iPad – Dining” configuration profile.
e. Label the iPad (case) with the assigned device name and location assignment, label the charging brick with assigned name. The picture shows a generic location assignment, better to include the actual location, for example. CDC Production Kitchen for Cuarto DC Production Kitchen
f. Record the assignment in the “Tablet Needs By Location” spread sheet found here:
Tablet Needs By Location - Revised 7.29 (004).xlsx
So we know where to locate the iPad if necessary.
iPad Configuration:
In the Jamf Self Service app (should push automatically to the iPad), make sure Google Chrome and Beyond Trust Remote Support apps are both installed.
For Beyond Trust screen sharing to work you need to allow “Screen Recording”. Go to the iPad settings, Control Center and add access for “Screen Recording”. This allows you to see the iPad screen when connected via Bomgar.
In both browsers (Safari and Chorme) add the Jamix Mobile App URL:
Use this QR code:
4. In Safari, add the site as a Favorite, and the “Home” site. In Chrome, you can only add it as favorite
We will also need to add this URL as a favorite:
https://usa.jamix.cloud/apps/ucdavis/sso because the mobile app URL is not yet compatible with SSO.
** NOTE this will be fixed soon so we want the mobile app URL to be the “Home” site, since ultimately they will use that one.
5. Add Gleason RiskLimiter URL as a favorite in both browsers.
https://dashboard.risklimiter.com/login?subdomain=uc-davis
6. Pair the thermal probe with the iPad.
Assign a thermometer to the iPad and label it.
Pairing the thermal probe with Gleason (requires a RL login).
The pin needs to be opened to be activated. You’ll see an orange indicator light flash in the center of the probe, if the battery is good.
Open the Risk limiter “Kitchen” app, and login. Login requires username, sub domain, and password.
The sub domain = uc-davis
Once logged in, press the user account icon (top right) and then select “settings”.
Under Settings you’ll see the option for “Thermometer”:
Risk Limiter should automatically detect the thermal pen, as long as it is open and the battery is good (it connects via Bluetooth). You’ll see it detect the pen, just select connect.
Once connected it will look like this:
If you close the thermometer (or it can’t communicate for some other reason), you’ll see this message:
