Notice to SSI Instructors

Announcement

Our records show that you are an instructor who may be using SmartSite during Summer Session I. If so, and you are considering using SmartSite to prepare your final grades for this quarter, please read on. If this does not apply to you, please disregard this message and submit your SSI grades as you normally would.

Summer Session I Instructors,

In preparation for final grading, we wanted to notify you that the SmartSite Gradebook does not currently support automatic final grade submission to the registrar. This feature will be available for Summer Session II, but until then, here are a few options for submitting final grades.

I . If you are not currently using the SmartSite Gradebook, please submit your grades via MyUCDavis or at http://classes.ucdavis.edu/grading.

II. If you are currently using the SmartSite Gradebook, but have a small course and do not mind entering your grades manually, please submit your grades at http://classes.ucdavis.edu/grading.

III. If you are using the SmartSite Gradebook, and do not wish to enter your course grades manually, please take the following steps.

1. Remove students who have dropped the course from your site.
a. Go to your course's Site Info page in SmartSite.
b. Check the "Remove" box for each student who has dropped the course. Dropped students have little check boxes near their names, but be careful not to remove any TA's or Instructors. They will also have check boxes near their names.
c. Click the "Update Participants" button at the bottom of the page to remove the dropped students.

2. Export your SmartSite Gradebook as an Excel spreadsheet.
a. Go to the "Course Grade" page in the SmartSite Gradebook.
b. Click the "Export for Excel" button at the bottom of the page.

3. Upload your grades for Final Grade Submission and send your grades to the registrar.
a. Go to http://classes.ucdavis.edu/grading and download the Excel spreadsheet for your course.
b. Paste the final grades in the grade column from the SmartSite Gradebook into the grades column on the sheet from the registrar. The list of students should be in the same order. Do not paste the header for this column; Please verify first that both spreadsheets have the same number of entries in them and that the names line up. Double check to make sure each student has the correct final grade.
c. Return to http://classes.ucdavis.edu/grading and follow the directions for uploading you final grades. Make sure that you have precisely the same columns in the spreadsheet as indicated by the instructions or the upload will not succeed.
