- Make sure to note final grading process not changing.
- Clarifying what's going to happen with MyUCDavis course tools; list by name.
- Create a page on smartsite.ucdavis.edu for MyUCDavis users.
- What are the "access channels?" What needs does it meet? "Follow this path."
- How do we illustrate SmartSite as a central place to coordinate various tasks?
Bills Preliminary Outline
Time: Late September
Length: 800-900 words, or about as long as on in summer IT Times
Audience: Staff and faculty. Some will never have heard of SmartSite; some will know quite a bit about it. This article needs to introduce the service to newcomers, but still inform experienced users.
Points to cover:
- The basics. What it is, why Davis has adopted it, its status as the preferred course management system starting this fall.
- Latest numbers of users, project sites and course sites.
- The demise of the tools in MyUCDavis, starting in a year.
- How to sign up, learn more or get trained, possibly also as a sidebar of a wicontacts.
- Stories about who's using it, and why, from faculty and staff, plus comments from Siegel. The goal is to display a wide variety of uses.
