VetMed Developers Meeting 4/19/06
Chris - Evaluations developed w/Vermont are now in review; gathering student feedback on current evaluations to determine if additional questions are needed.
Evaluation information stored in Confluence.
Trying Flex out on web services output from evaluation data to generate bar graph ratings. Testing for more efficient data delivery using Flash remoting. Tests are prototype of eval reports - possible they may replace Crystal reports. Dave & Chris related business uses of Flex seen at MAX conference
Eval reports are available to staff and faculty for review of teaching methods effectiveness.
Rick - Comment on evaluation reports interface - several search fields don't indicate what their purpose is. Chris working on GUI
Possible IE bug on tablets/side note - when testing wireless, download dropped; old version of IE on tablets; Firefox & Safari okay, need to determine if this is a browser or wireless issue.
Beau - Another bug noted in Firefox; if named div is used more than once, may generate black lines - collision of namespace.
2.1.2 release date for VM? For Fall 2006 release, team will wait until June to determine whether fall release will be on 2.2 or 2.1.2 with determining factor being change base - code (fairly easy to live with) vs. database (more difficulty structural changes.)
Rick - Will be generating Captivate movies only for tools VM is using; limited availability to UCD team. Need to reevaluate content of Captivates after code upgrades.
Keith - Ilios instructor swapping done; moving forward with CAF requirements. Will talk to Chris & Ray about using web services in CF to share out Ilios data.
Dave - Working on content archiving; cleanup of existing course content used in iWeb.
Chris - Of interest - gCalendar, checking out the gui and usefulness.
Phil - trying out implementation of simple list (admin user white list) in 2.1.2 local version.
Lessons learned: when installing on Linux/macs - don't use tilda ~ , builds another maven directory!
Scott - Programmer's cafe may be useful for building new tools, but familiarity w/sakai roadmap, ie layout of tools is very important in learning tool development.
