Scott F./Beau - Discussion of the import tool/user creation as well as course and user deletion.
The root problem: sometimes changes needed on import process, e.g., the email archive tool was mistakenly put up on sites which required the need to delete and rerun the batch; VM needs a method to change existing courses, e.g. to update sites for changes rather than a create/delete process.
The delete & rerun workflow works, but may not be the desirable solution due to possibility that archive data could change, i.e., student changes from previous quarters might be overwritten. Also need to provide a way to modify white list (admin accounts), maybe in a properties file or via the database. Other possibilities: external widget, Java or CF code, reference another table (for exception list); a method extensible for other person/object types is desirable;
Phil to take on white list as first sakai task.
Scott - Aaron Zeckoski's Virginia Tech team working on evaluations; initial effort made changes to Scott's code which are not feasible w/current archtecture; Scott reworked and resubmitted, will discuss w/collab team, but feels VM can complete more quickly for local needs (to deadline) outside of collaborating. Priorities - collaborating or producing needed tool for VM? - Ray: let collab team know of VM deadlines and needs and ask for feedback on their timeline/availability.
Beau/Scott - Ready to move final changes for import to prod? All done and checked, available for spring run. Desirable to make minimal changes after import to confirm that the process works in anticipation of fall run.
(VM open setup will allow all students to see all courses, not just the ones they are enrolled in.) Orientation for students to be given first day of class. Chris involved in support.
Keith - Ilios has courses, offerings, forms for rescheduling, all funtional.
Rick - Captivate: running through process of recording animation steps and then recording audio over; 2-3 animations completed of 10; will record audio & complete over the next few days.
Dave - Migration of materials in CERE Resources and links to other content; will talk to faculty prior to fall to confirm content needed; default will be empty site. Instructors for fall courses not all defined yet. Manual migration process as needed.
