Status of the Proposed SSWG Standards Process

  • Nothing much has happened with this in the IT Roadmap Coordinating Council during the summer break.  We'll pick it up again, now that things are back in swing.

  • Later in the meeting, there was discussion of what compliance is required for SSWG standards.  While having the IT Roadmap Coordinating Council endorse our standards is a good step, the consensus was that there should also be UCD policy.  David Walker will look into this.

Browser Standards

  • Minimum Standards Compliance Requirements for UC Davis Web Sites and Applications was discussed.

  • The document currently references ITAG's proposed UC-wide browser standards.  We will copy all of the UC-wide documents into a UCD repository, as there are some changes that are needed for those other documents.

  • PPM 310-70, World Wide Web Standards contains a paragraph about "Adherence to browser and technology standards." The new SSWG standard would supersede that paragraph, so we will need to coordinate with University Communications to do that.

  • We will review revisions via electronic mail in time for discussion at the next TIF Infrastructure meeting in October.
