Comments Received on Our Preliminary Application Platform Statement

The DTC and TIF Steering have been told about the draft, and we will be working our way through TIF Infrastructure and TIF.  In general, response has been good. We have received some comments, though:

  • Our comments about Oracle Forms have caused some confusion.  People seem to understand after an explanation, though.
  • Our comments about application complexity cause some confusion, too.  Again, explanation helps.
  • It was suggested that we mention technology services, particularly middleware / identity management services, that are available for Java.
  • The issue of how statements like this are vetted and disseminated to UCD was discussed.  This will be made part of our proposed 2010 work plan.

SSWG Work Plan for 2010

  • The discussion was a brainstorming session, using Potential Ideas for Future Work Plans as a basis.  That document was modified during the discussion to reflect the issues raised. While we feel that all of the tasks listed are important, we indicated what we felt were higher-priority items with bolded text.
  • We will continue to discuss our work plan for 2010 with the goal of finalizing a proposal to the IT Roadmap Coordinating Council during our February meeting. As a first step, David Walker will rework the Potential Ideas for Future Work Plans document into a draft work plan.
