SSWG Notes - 2010-05-19
The group discussed the costs associated with the development, deployment, operation, and maintenance of software systems. While the motivation for this work was to identify cost differences that are due to application platform selection, The resulting table below can be a valuable tool for assessing the overall life-cycle cost of software systems. In fact, it was the group's consensus that application platform selection will often not make a significant difference in overall cost.
After review by the SSWG, we will look for a couple of projects that would be willing to estimate their costs according to this framework.
