QA Test Plan for Content Migration from MyUCDavis

QA Test Plan for Content Migration from MyUCDavis

SAK-601

Current code on MyUCDavis allows faculty to export their folders, files, and HTML files (authored in MyUCDavis). This new code addition allows for the export of links which faculty have stored in MyUCDavis for import into Smartsite.

The format in Smartsite does not allow faculty to drag and drop links via WebDav; faculty must enter web links one at a time. In addition, there are a limited number of faculty using this function in MyUCDavis. For these reasons, links in MyUCDavis are exported in a single HTML file. With this format, faculty has a list of links to add one at a time or the entire HTML file of links can be saved in Resources.

This test covers both the content and functionality of the code changes encompassed in links migration.

Step

Description

1.

SU as a faculty member into a course site on the test server, bumbus.ucdavis.edu. Navigate to a course with existing links or create links in multiple folders and files.

2.

Using these screen shots as a guide, step through the export process for Website Builder and stop graphic 5. - the Export Site screen.

3.

Read the text at the top of the frame (beneath the title Export Site) and verify that the text is clear, spelled correctly, and grammatically correct. Provide any suggestions to improve clarity.

4.

Test the link to "Adding_Content_to_SmartSite.html" and verify that a new window opens with content consistent with the title. Verify that the text is clear, spelled correctly, and grammatically correct. Provide any suggestions to improve clarity.

5.

Check the directory displayed in the Export Site frame and verify that the directory accurately mimics the directory displayed to the left. Specifically verify that the link icons on the right are accurate based on the link icons on the left.

6.

Note the counts of the various links in the directory on the right. Select the View Course Site from the Website Builder sub-menu to open the course site in a new window. Verify manually that the count of links matches the count in the directory.

7.

Select the EXPORT TO ZIP FILE link (with the default all files selected) and complete the download process. Unzip and/or open the zipped file. Open the course_links.html file and verify that the link count matches the count in the directory of the Export Site screen.

8.

Check the list of links listed in course_links.html and verify against the course site window that the link names and URLs are accurately duplicated.

9.

Exit from the MyUCDavis test system by returning to your own account and then closing all the browser windows.

10.

Open up a site on smartsite-test.ucdavis.edu. Add the course_links.html file to Resources and verify the file and its links are functional.

11.

Add a couple of links to Resources by copy and paste and verify that the links are functional.

12.

If you are on a system capable of WebDAV, move the course_links.html file into another course's Resources. Verify that the page is accessible and the links are functional.
