SED Authority

Sakai External Database Data Authority

On Hold

This feature is on hold, pending further investigation on the feasibility of this type of data interaction between IET and other sources of authority.

This page will explore the process of determining authority for multiple-source data as well as the process for sythesizing that data into a single source.

Requirements

  • TBD

Design

In order to provide a framework for authority, the following elements must be created:

  • Authority Registry: A record of sources of authority for information and/or resources.
  • Administrator List: A list of users authorized to administer information for one or more authorities.

Once the Authority management framework is in place, a peer authority table will need to be created for each table in which authority may be asserted. These tables will record the per-authority values, as well as the authority identifiers.

The attached SED Authority Structure ERD provides a more concrete example of asserting authority on course ownership and term start and end dates.
