General Discussion

Question from Chris about how to respond to faculty questions about their cross-listed course in the Fall, i.e., how to combine Resources, etc. for 2 different courses, dealing with upcoming faculty issues.

Sakai 2.3/2.4 migration plans

Scott on Sakai 2.3 review

Review of refactoring for 2.4 - significant changes, plus small, detailed changes; currently compiling a local instance to examine code base and changes from 2.1.x structure. Will need to plan out the refactor/restructure local code implementations, e.g., imports (from CREST, external data?) need to be separated out and reimplemented.

Working on generating a list pre-requirements to enable 2.4 version.
Timeline: production pilot in summer sessin 2, ready for production in fall
Expects that by end of spring quarter - 2.4 up and running on my (dev version)
No problems anticipated with eval

Eval Status

Eval expected to be in full production for summer session 2 (which is only 2 courses) and Fall 2007

Status of Deliverables

  • preview of evaluations completed;
  • currently patching for issues which cropped up in multi-term releases;
  • admin page updated/tricked out;
  • ready to close out winter qtr evals (cannot be re-opened);
  • working on faculty report

Faculty Reports - some database changes needed to associate instructor w/department (and confirm new users are added to appropriate department). Department association is add to user properties via sakai user properties; association is limited to 1 department per instructor for evaluation purposes.

General discussion of requirements

Future need for staff evaluations? student evaluations? Who gets the reports (department user is assisting in? Or user's department? Does data show up in department-instructor report?

Release to Collab as Contrib Branch

Considerations of what changes would be required to release evals to collab as contrib branch; discussion of local dependencies; some interest from community in UCD's version.

Systems

Beau gearing up for database migrations from 2.1.x thru 2.2 to pending 2.3/2.4 end state.
