B.S. Biology/Studio Art, UCR 1979
M.A. Medical and Biological Illustration, UCSF 1982

Sparked by an interest in science, medicine and art, I completed an undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Art, which included upper-division coursework in life drawing and printmaking. I then entered the three-year Medical Illustrator's Graduate Program at UCSF. The study of medical illustration techniques and biomedical communication theory was supplemented with coursework in gross anatomy and cell biology and operating room observation. At the time, innovative digital communication techniques were rapidly evolving, and I focused much of my graduate work on the developing field of medical animation.

This later led to commercial work developing multi-image shows and boardroom presentations for Chartmasters, a leading Business Arts company servicing the major agencies and companies in the San Francisco financial district. This was followed by a position as Art Director of Media West in Portland, Oregon. I also spent several years holding the position of CD Author at a software company in San Rafael, California, developing interactive presentations and software demos.

In 1999, a position for animator/programmer with an emphasis in 3D work opened at Mediaworks at UC Davis. Since then, I have spent several years developing models, animations, simulations and visualizations for academic, research and outreach communities.
