NGCMON is the NGC centrifuge health monitoring application. NGCMON motor temperature limits

Before you begin: The user NGC is automatically logged in to both Rotunda and NGCDAQ-Main at all times. This is required for the Labview Data Socket Server (DSS). This application must be running before NGCMON is started, otherwise data will not be logged correctly.

 

Centrifuge Operator logs on to NGCDAQ-Rotunda via remote desktop.

Centrifuge operator starts "NGCMON" shortcut on the Rotunda desktop.

 

This starts three programs:

Throttle control ­ see also Centrifuge Speed Control Switch control

Fast sampling ­ The program takes data and puts it on the DSS on Main.

 

The shortcut is mapped to the "Labview" fileshare on the server. If the program won't start, contact IT support.

 

Operator minimized the Rotunda window and switches to NGCDAQ-Main.

Fast sampling ­ this program takes data and puts it on the DSS on Main. NGCMON

 

 

NGCMON provides the operator all the controls they need to control the centrifuge assuming everything functions correctly. However, there are rare occurances of problems. Some of the less infrequent problems and how to deal with them:

 

Problem 1. The operator gets a Labview error when starting the program on eithe Rotunda or Main. In this case, close labview on both computers and start from step 1 above. For some reason Labview occasionally doesn't initialize correctly. If you repeatedly get error messages then something more serious may have happened. A swift reboot of both computers will also cure many ills.

 

Problem 2. The large dot near the streaming data table turns red. This means one of the two programs streaming data into the DSS has crashed. Alternatively, the operator may see a Labview error pop up regarding buffer not avaiable.

 

fast sampling failed on Main - the operator will have to restart labview on Main. Set the throttle control on to Rotunda before restarting! See Centrifuge Speed Control. Once the speed control is on Rotunda, completely close Labview on Main. Repeat step 5 above. Return speed control to the Main computer.

 

fast sampling failed on Rotunda - the operator should first try simply restarting the fast sampling program directly. Simply press OK to the error buttons, then press run on the fast sampling program. With luck it will restart and the throttle control will be fine.
