Intune Button Options
1- Retire : Retire is used when you want to retire a device completely and the device will no longer be used . During testing we found our its impossible to regain access to a device once its retired therefore
We Don't Recommend using it.
2- Wipe : Wipe in Intune is similar to a reimage. We will utilize Wipe The most and its best used cases are
When a user returns the device and it needs to be reassigned
Reimage Laptop for any reason
Cleans windows install
Make sure when you wipe that you aren't selecting any boxes when getting this prompt
The first prompt can only be used when it will be the same user using the device after reimage.
The second prompt can only be used when a device is stolen , lost or not returned. Please only use this option when your 100% sure the device will not be returned as this option will destroy the device and it will no longer be operable.
3- Delete : Delete will delete the device completely from Intune. We will use the delete when resetting the device and need to delete it because its in a hybrid state and when its time to e-waste a device only.
Please also inform the Sys admins when deleting so we can do clean up.
4- Sync : Initiate communication between Intune and the device and install or update the latest scripts and polices.
5- Restart : remotely initiate a restart for any reason needed.
6- Fresh Start : This will delete all apps that are installed on the device to declutter the computer if the computer is acting slow or a user is having issues with performance.
Make sure to check the Retain user data Box when using.
7- Autopilot reset : will restart the Intune enrollment incase it fails or times out.
