This page will explore the process of determining authority for multiple-source data as well as the process for sythesizing that data into a single source.

Design
In order to provide a framework for authority, the following elements must be created:
- Authority Registry: A record of sources of authority for information and/or resources.
- Administrator List: A list of users authorized to administer information for one or more authorities.
Once the Authority management framework is in place, a peer authority table will need to be created for each table in which authority may be asserted. These tables will record the per-authority values, as well as the authority identifiers.
The attached SED Authority Structure ERD provides a more concrete example of asserting authority on course ownership and term start and end dates.
