VetMed Developer's Meeting

Development Update

Scott - current status

Need to work on gradebook mapping for grade mode per course,.e.g., p/np (pass/no pass), letter grades, etc.
After Atlanta, would like to meet w/VM team for review and to plan code additions/enhancements for evaluation tool and for enhancements/changes for other non-eval issues. Suggested a planning/whiteboard/brainstorm session on needed changes for winter/spring quarters.
Ray noted that VM may possibly deploy Sakai v2.4 in summer session 2 in August, so review for this release should be factored in.

Phil - current status

Currently working on instructor view for evaluation tool.
Ray needs to setup an email to notify faculty users about how to access their evaluations via the new tool. He would like to include a URL path in the email for easy access by faculty. Developers comment a URL may not be available (URL is not generated until faculty views the page?). Scott/Phil will investigate what info is available for Ray's email.
Ray needs to view response data after evaluations are closed. Phil asked for specs for batch report for evals - Ray will go over this offline w/Phil.

Phil and Scott will give a Thursday evening tech demo at Atlanta on their eval tool; will get help from other team members to create a poster for the event.

Ray asked the programmers to investigate (during the conference) repository use at other schools, e.g., Princeton's repositories, and library integration.

He mentioned that the Sakai oversite committee suggested UCD VM do an integration presentation for the next conference - talking about pulling separate data resources on campus together.

Also, after the quarter ends, he will need to sit down wtih Kirk & the campus team to discuss crossover and faculty issues, especially when both systems are in production for Fall '07.

Servers

Keith - will migrate CREST to media server per Ray's request.
Ray wants to put other CF apps here as well; he will sit down with Beau to plan the best migration path. Rick - discussion of CERE resources served up from the media server; directory structure not permanent as the structure may change based on further discussions;
Ray also brought up the need to review impact from search repository, as well as determine which type of repository to use. He asked the team to revisit D-Space and other projects.

Training

Rick - is now contacting winter fcaulty course leaders for content migration of their course content (from iWeb.)
He asked about the process for upcoming gradebook training sessions, whether the trainers will have gradebook/final grade submission access for CERE training? Beau will synchronize training server with production so Sakai end can be shown up to the live submit. He will also provide trainers with screen shots of final submission.

CREST

Ray to Keith - need to extend type of courses available in CREST; will have more info on parameters available next Friday, pending campus hire of student for course approval form data.
