Monday Develpers' Meeting

Developer's Meeting, October 1, 2007

All the other jiras slated to go to prod tomorrow have been tested in Head so if Head doesn't go, we'd have to retest in 2.4.1 tag.  We'd have to upgrade another day in the week.  Start upgrade at 5:30 am.

Sak 636 not finished but there is some improvement. These are authentication changes.  Michael has done some work on this.  Hasn't been QA tested though.   Is on Smartsite test.  Sandra will assign to QA test - talk to Lisa.

Stats tuning and site delete don't go to Prod yet.

Why will shutting down database will work for Head?  Not sure this is the solution.  Sessions are restarted.  May be a long shot.

Run AWR queries once Head is back up and we're reviewing things.  Ask Patrick for assistance during the upgrade?  Thomas will request this.  Prabhu is to be present.  Thomas will coordinate with Prabhu.

Our next planning Iteration - maybe Oct 31, Nov 1, Nov 2.  Then Nov 28, 29, 30

November vacations: James gone for Thanksgiving.  Jon out in October but here for Thanksgiving. Mike here for Thanksgiving.

Christmas James here. Michael Wenk here during Christmas also.

Section info - can open campus students be seen in section info?  How about wait listed students.  Jon will look into this.  Wait listed students are not viewable in GradeBook and section info.   Sandra will create a Jira for this.

Do we have a Jira for the Mothra Feed so that when it is run, it doesn't begin with a truncate table? Sandra will create this.  Brian Donnelly is working on this.

Two new columns come back to site info - section and credit information with the HEAD upgrade.

RAC - viable solution for performance gain.  Shared to dedicated connections was also part of the speed up with the RAC.  RAC is pointing banner prod log.  Gains from RAC implementation not as great as changing our views to tables?  Don't know.

View to table.  How to keep the table current.  Global delete from table, then insert?  But you have to rebuild the index and this is labor intensive.

Several things in motion. Patrick is still looking into setting profiles on the database somewhere. MGA's consultation replication.  Patrick to create tables from views and cache the tables in memory as a way of gaining on performance.  RAC.

Lock the mviews into memory - patrick.    Not the same as above.  Sandra will ask Patrick this.
