Training and Support Coordination Agenda & Notes 01-05-11

Attendees: Kirk, Joyce, Fernando, Steve, Mike Waid, Mike Wenk, Dave

Starting around October there's been a rise in faculty SSNs not in Banner.

Mike works with Emiline (OUR) to get the PDIM and then gets them set up in Mothra.

May be associated with Banner 8 upgrade.

Mothra Team (MW) gave this information re: potential problem with Banner 8 to Emiline to investigate.

Fernando has seen some tickets with duplicate MailIDs

These MailIDs are used by others who used to have kerberos account.

Leave those for ITX to clean up.

Fernando to contact faculty (Misenheimer) for UWP 104f, 105 WQ 2011; who added all their students but should have just added their roster as Dave instructed.

Now the individual students need to be removed.

Action:  Dave will remove them and notify Misenheimer that they are removed and if this happens again, Misenheimer should let us know and we can help with instructions to add the roster. Dave will document the deletes.

Android won't download files.

ITX doesn't support Android but Fernando has has an Android and so he will work with the faculty outside of Remedy since he wants an answer for himself.

Templates fix by rSmart is planned for 1/8/11.

See 8310160

Deployment starts at 5:30am 1/8/11.

rSmart is still finalizing the implementation so the end of the window has not been determined yet

Fernando is not getting all search results when he searches for course sites.

Site search (sakai.sitebrowser) is the tool that's not working.

Mike Wenk posted RSN 8310214. Not returning all the sites we expect but it was working in the fall.

TEST server smartsite-test is running out of room as rSmart tries to update test with a prod refresh (for 8310160)

Joyce to created RSN 8310215 for smartsite-test server - need to add room.

Points Gradebook Questions between Kirk and Alexali Brubaker

Faculty (Alexali Brubaker) had a points gradebook with 4 items (with 120 point items)

The grade scale in the system scores on 100 as a default in percent.  Brubaker thought the grade scale was in points.

He didn't understand gradescale wasn't what he wanted.

Kirk told him how to change the grade scale. But he didn't want to use the adjusted scale, he wanted the break to be 93.5 (not 93).

He submitted grades and students complained.

He'll have to do grade changes.

Would be a nice enhancement do add a total points column next to course grade column. But we don't have resources to make the enhancement.

The incorrect grades need to be approved by the grade change committee.

Action:  Kirk will contact Frank Wada to see if there's a process that can used to resubmit the grades; this usually isn't done based on policy and procedure but maybe there's an exception that's issued by the grade change committee.

Action:  Mike Wenk will send the grade files to Kirk and Fernando.

Guest users - can sponsors put quests in different status/categories so they drop from the active list.

Faculty  (James G. Fadel) wants to remove them from the guest access list.

We decided we CANNOT delete the users or we loose access to the data

For now we can de-activate them in a site until we can do more development on guess access before we can make this easier for users

Action:  We don't have resources to enhance Guest Access but Fernando can create the ticket.  Fernando will create an Jira ticket (SS) and will determine if we have to inactivate guest users for Fadel and create a Jira ticket.

Drop lowest behavior changed and Mike has been researching SS-249.

An old bug allowed one item to be graded even if you dropped all items (for drop lowest). Bug that remains is a display issue.
