MIV 5.6.6 Release

https://ucdavis.jira.com/wiki/spaces/MIV/pages/2966421512 ← Release notes here

Stephen documenting in notes the issue we found today (item below), but no code changes. Release ready for Tues!

Eliot Atekwana - Duplicate Account Appointee to Conversion Bug

“If the account is a "normal" duplicate where you try to convert an Appointee and there is already a Candidate — it correctly reports "Duplicate Account Found"
It's only the half-converted case where both accounts are Appointees and one already has a login that fails.”

Stephen notes that “only way to look for duplicate accounts would be to list all accounts sorted by last name so that we can look for things that are likely to be duplicates.”

“Bug is half-converted case - those shouldn’t exist.”
-> Using Eliot as test case, Stephen was able to fix it by changing role from the bugged appointee to candidate.

Decision: Move forward with release, if encountering this issue, help desk can escalate to Stephen. Stephen can change from bugged appointee to candidate and then merge the two accounts.

Evan not here, will table for next time

Updates from Evan

  • I am reaching out to the IAM team so they can help use the API instead of LDAP with the hope that it will save Stephen time from having to research the best way to use it.

  • The Academic Affairs docker server is almost setup. Will be be working with Jacob this week to get a docker instance up and then reaching back out to Stephen to get back to the MIV docker.

  • Spoke to Jose about getting more support with the UI work. Will be discussing with Shawn Thursday.

Ways to Send Automatic Messages to Sympa mailing lists

VPAA colleagues wondering if we can send automatic reminders to all of miv school admins occasionally (through outlook, to a sympa listserv)

MIV-School-Admin (sp?) is a read-only listserv, not everyone can send to the list. However, Stephen can add “list moderators” that allow for emails to be sent from the moderators, but moderators can’t add people to that list.

Automatic(?) emails can be done outside of Sympa.

Student Interviews

“Repository of problem/solutions” (Stephen will send to us, no “one” solution)

Action: Brian/Cathy each come up with a soft skills question by this afternoon (or tomorrow before interview start). Can send to Stephen in Slack.

Evan envisions that a large portion of the interview will be talking about the challenge. (both a debugging challenge and a ?? challenge)

Automated email will got out 4 hours before each interview asking for submissions for the coding challenge to be submitted 1 hour before interview (3 hours technically). Earliest of these email was 7am (for an 11am interview). Coding challenge can be done in any language they want.

Stephen will also send us the applications from the interviewees.

ServiceNow Change

Changing Permissions on ticket in order for Stephen to see it. Change methodology of “assigning” ticket to Stephen instead of “adding” Stephen to ticket. (Can still slack message though)

Stephen says assigning ticket back to MIV help desk user is clear(er) indicator that he’s done with the ticket.

Action: Cathy to let help desk know, also let Jacob know that we’re changing methodology.

Prioritization

Backlog checked and reprioritized.
MIV-6669 (half steps) and MIV-6464 (empl id user search) could be done in an October release

MIV-6655 (new approvals needed when new forms uploaded) more complicated, could be pushed back into release after October.

Switch from LDAP to IAM

created ticket

MIV-6712 - Getting issue details... STATUS
to track this effort.

Once Evan gets Stephen this information, we’ll move it to Selected for Development.
