Creating a user account in Sakai

This is a summary of the steps needed to create a user account in Sakai.

Creating User account

  1. Log in as user who has "administrative" privileges in Sakai.
  2. Click on the "Users" item in the left hand navigation area
  3. Search for existing user accounts using Search functionality
    ***Currently, as of sakai2.ucdavis.edu running with internal Sakai user accounts being stored locally, the search for user functionality works. Once internal accounts are replaced by provisioned ones, this search functionality will give false results.
  4. Select "New User" link in the center, top of the page
  5. Fill in the information for the user Some examples are:
  • User Id: samerson (kerberos name)
  • First Name: Scott
  • Last Name: Amerson
  • Email address: sdamerson@ucdavis.edu
  • Password: ?
  • Confirm Password: ?
  • Type: maintain (This field should have a user type associated with it, via the user templates) This is an internal record of what type the user is, and can be comma delimited, etc if a user template exists for such an account. Currently, we have "student, instructor, access, maintain, guest, registered" as possibilities
    • Of these, the field User Id is only one necessary.
  1. Click Save
