after creation, some items seem to take longer than I remember to show up on the site. for example, in creating graded and ungraded assignments, the graded ones showed up almost immediately in the assignments list. the ungraded one tool a long time...like perhaps more than 30 minutes. despite clearing the cache, reloading and login & out.

it isn't obvious to me that, in order to have the topic graded, it HAS to be associated with a gradebook assignment. when you're creating, you aren't asked for one. however, in order to grade you HAVE to associate it with one. which explains why, after creation, the forum item is NOT seen in gradebook.
