Follow-up Request Application

Questions RE: Temporary Affiliate / Researchers

Dear XXXX,

Thanks for your inquiry. At this time, site owners like yourself may provide members outside of the campus community with access to your site, but first will need to make sure these individuals have been granted temporary affiliation. More information about this process is available at:

Once the temporary affiliate accounts are created via the normal university process, they will automatically be picked up by SmartSite, so the owner of the site (you in this case) will be able to add them as participants.

Instructions for adding participants to your site are available in the "Support & Training" page, in the Tech Tips documentation for the "Section Info" tool.

Site Created

Dear XXXX,

Your requested project site, "var1" has been accepted and is now ready to use.

To get started:

  • Point your browser to http://smartsite.ucdavis.edu
  • Click on the "Login" link at the very top right of the window
  • Provide your UC Davis Login ID and Kerberos password on the "Secure Login" page.

When you first login, you will arrive at "My Workspace," which is your personal area to store files, organize a calendar, upload files, and manage your project sites--all of which can be done via the buttons on the left.

To access your requested project site, select its name in the yellow menu bar near the top of the window. Now that you're viewing your requested site, you can begin experimenting. For example, you may change the information that appears on the main page by clicking "Options" underneath "Worksite Information." If you'd like to edit your site information or add and remove tools from your project site, select the "Site Info" button on the left.

Technical Tips that may answer many of your 'How-to' questions are available for your convenience. The index of topics can be accessed by selecting the "Support & Training" button on the left of your site.
